At Beautiful New Beginnings CIC, we understand how challenging it can be to support your child’s mental health and well-being. Whether they’re feeling anxious, struggling with friendships, or just need a little boost in confidence, finding the right activities to help them thrive can feel overwhelming.
That’s why we’re so passionate about our Girls-Only Water Wellbeing Sessions, created in partnership with Swim Squad Liverpool. These sessions are more than just time in the pool, they’re a unique way to help children and young people build confidence, manage stress, and feel part of something special.
Why Water Therapy?
Water therapy might sound like a fancy term, but at its heart, it’s about using water-based activities to support your child’s emotional, social, and physical growth.
Here’s why it works:
It’s Calming: The gentle, sensory experience of being in water helps children regulate their emotions, making it particularly helpful for those who feel overwhelmed or anxious.
It Builds Confidence: Activities like paddle-boarding are all about trying, falling, and getting back up again, an amazing way for children to learn resilience.
It’s Social: From team games to group aqua aerobics, our sessions encourage children to interact and make friends in a supportive, judgment-free space.
If your child has a diagnosis such as ASD or ADHD, water therapy can also provide a sensory-friendly environment where they feel safe, supported, and free to be themselves.
What We Offer
Our water therapy sessions are currently focused on girls aged 10–17 and are held weekly. During the sessions, your child will have the chance to:
Learn paddle-boarding skills that encourage balance, focus, and perseverance.
Take part in group aqua aerobics, which combines exercise with fun.
Play team games and enjoy some much-needed free time in the water.
We also have a team of amazing professionals, including lifeguards, counsellors, and swimming instructors, who ensure every child feels safe and supported. And don’t worry, parents and carers are welcome to relax nearby while the children enjoy their session.
What Parents Are Saying
We know how much trust it takes to try something new, so don’t just take it from us, here’s what parents and carers of our participants have shared:
“My daughter has ADHD and finds social situations difficult, but these sessions have given her so much confidence. She’s made new friends and looks forward to every week.”
“The difference in my daughter is incredible. She’s calmer, happier, and more willing to try new things.”
“These sessions are a lifeline for us. They’ve helped my daughter build resilience and given her a safe space to just be herself.”
It’s not just about what happens in the pool, parents tell us they’re seeing the benefits at home, in school, and in other parts of their children’s lives.
Why Early Support Matters
We know that waiting for counselling services can feel frustrating and exhausting. That’s why programs like ours are so important, they give children a chance to get early support and develop the skills they need to cope with life’s challenges.
Whether it’s managing stress, learning how to build friendships, or simply having a safe space to relax, our sessions are here to help bridge that gap while you’re waiting for longer-term support.
More Sessions to Come
Right now, we’re focusing on girls-only sessions, but we’re working hard to secure funding so we can bring back our mixed sessions, which supported younger children as well. We know how much these opportunities mean to families, and we’re committed to reaching as many young people as possible.
How You Can Help Your Child at Home
Even if your child isn’t attending our sessions, getting them in the water can be a great way to support their well-being. Swimming at the local pool, splashing around at the beach, or even just playing with water at home can:
Help them unwind after a stressful day.
Build their confidence through play and exploration.
Provide quality family time to strengthen your bond.
The water is a place where kids can let go, have fun, and be themselves, sometimes, that’s all they need to feel better.
